Parochial Church Council

Brief Notes from the last PCC meeting

held on Monday, 16 May 2022

Minutes of the previous Meeting held on Monday, 21 March 2022 were approved.  You can now read these here or via the Parish Office.

Mission and Ministry

LYCIG – preparations reviewed for

  • Celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Picnic on 5 June, SA

  • Green Weekend (Nature Count) 18/19 June, AS

  • Cake&Co. Afternoon Tea for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee - 19 July, SA

Youth & Children’s Work

  • Presence meetings have been held fortnightly on Sunday evenings at St. Andrew’s Hall.  These have been running since the beginning of the year. Live-Streaming raised too many technical issues and so the meeting has moved to a ‘hybrid’ format with participation from attendees in the Hall and also via Zoom.

  • There are a number of proposed Summer Events in the planning phase:

    • July 2-9 – The Heights Church, Texas will visit us again – Host Homes required

    • July 21st – Trip to Allerthorpe Lake Aqua Park

    • September 2-4 – Youth Fest in cooperation with The Belfrey

  • Plans are developing for the return to work of the Children & Family Worker on a part-time basis (25hrs. per week)

Table Talk

At each meeting, the PCC work in smaller groups to discuss and consider some topics in more detail.  This month the PCC discussed how we might better develop a ‘culture of service’. Over 20 suggestions were put forward and recorded for future consideration.

Finance

  • The Treasurer reported progress with general Treasurer activities.

  • A summary Income & Expenditure report for the current year to date was received, and showing a fall in regular income of around £750 per month.

  • Our annual Stewardship Sunday realised some very helpful increases. (+2% or £211 per month)

Building & Fabric

  • The 5 -yearly (Quinquennial) Inspections are due at both church buildings this year

  • Stone Technical Services will carry out essential work on the AS Spire later this year for £8k approx.

  • Initial groundworks have been completed for the extension works at SA. Current project finances should enable the next step to install foundations, walls and drainage to get up to the floor level in the main building.

Any Other Business

PCC unanimously voted for an extension for Rev’d. Judy Lindsey to continue her work as a Deacon in the Parish. (This vote was later conveyed to the Bishop of Selby who will confirm this extension)

Date of the next PCC meeting:
